A Student's Stance on the Immigration Ban (Part 2)
Below this line is a article written by two more awesome students from Cardozo's SCAR Club and I'm telling you this article is great. Again, I'm super happy to be a part of their legacy in the making.

President Trump’s recent institution of the immigration ban is outright
ridiculous and derogatory. He is blatantly discriminating against immigrants based
on their national origin and ethnicity. This act of bigotry is unjust, unfair, and
unconstitutional. Trump’s decision to prevent immigrants from entering the U.S.
from 7 specific countries is in violation of the 14 th Amendment.
In spite of the loophole in the 14 th Amendment stating that the President shall take action to
prevent a potential threat whom of which he/she deems as such from invading our
land, our nation isn’t currently in a state of emergency.
Trump’s ban is expected to eventually lead to many more deportations and detentions in the future. Dismissing whole populations is absurd and immigration ban should be undone. He hasn’t
considered the reasons why each of those individuals from who he’s banned from
immigrating to the U.S. desire to reside here. In most of the countries where the
immigrants Trump’s specifically banned entrance from, danger’s become much
more prevalent. Their reasons can vary from searching for a better life in terms of
financial situation to fighting for their lives in a horrid environment.
Trump has already signed three executive orders in relation to immigration thus far. Asides
from the controversial travel ban, “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist
Entry into the United States,” the more general orders dealt were the “Border
Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvement” and “Enhancing Public
Safety in the Interior of the United States.” To add, the United States has earned
the reputation as a nation constructed through the foundation built by immigrants
and a nation that provides opportunity. By accepting this immigration ban, the
United States is disregarding its roots and what it’s stood for.
I along with many others in our nation can only anticipate the stricter
enforcement and institution of several other acts and rules regarding this topic.
Already a few months into Trump’s presidency, the nation’s undergone drastic
changes. U.S. citizens of ethnic background and roots related to the people being
banned from entering the country right now are in worry of what their fates may
look like. This controversial immigration ban is view by many as the Muslim Ban;
creating fear for these residents. I hope that President Trump doesn’t further
incorporate ridiculous acts such as this one.
